HOTOLI, Recycled Glass Lightening Made by Craftsmanship

HOTOLI is a sustainable lighting brand made of recycled glass with craftsmanship in Switzerland. The brand name appeals to the Swiss culture as well as the Japanese one. The glass lighting aims to combine lifestyle with sustainability.

HOTOLI is characterized by five key elements: STORY, GOOD DESIGN, RECYCLED MATERIAL, CRAFTSMANSHIP and MADE LOCALLY.

STORY
The word "hotori" means lakeside or riverside in Japanese + "li" the Swiss German word for diminutive. HOTOLI is inspired by life at the River Aare in Bern, Switzerland. The local people's lifestyle flows along the riverside in a slow passage of time. This product is designed with the wish that the colour and shine of the water would be forever.

GOOD DESIGN
The solid glass looks like a pool of water. Its form is designed with sincere and clear lines, giving it a sophisticated and modern look. Its existence can transform any impression of the interior. In addition, the weight of the lamp, the comfort of its light and the easiness of changing bulbs have been taken into account so that the user feels a positive attachment with the light and can use it for a long time.

RECYCLED MATERIAL
The glass part is made of recycled glass. HOTOLI will set up a platform for production of recycled glass in the future, not only its own lighting brand, but also to take bespoke orders. It encourages the use of recycled glass in a variety of fields and contribute to a more sustainable development.

CRAFTSMANSHIP
HOTOLI is made in Switzerland with excellent craftsmanship. Through this project, we aim to pass on craftspeople’s refined skills, wisdom and aesthetic sense to the next generation and to sustain and expand the crafts world.

MADE LOCALLY
HOTOLI is based on local craftsmanship, making its products in Switzerland, for the Swiss and European markets. The aim is to support the development of the local cultural and handicraft industry and to encourage local sourcing of design objects. It also reduces the environmental impact of long-distance shipping. In the future, it is planned to have a production base in Japan for the local markets there, with a similar policy.
